Presented by: Dennis & Annette Ford
Dennis’s presentation at the Cruising Topics night will include a brief introduction to the www.kimberleycruising.com.au Web site and its contents. This will be followed by slides illustrating a Cruise from Perth to Darwin in 1982 and subsequent cruises through the Kimberley in 1990, 1998 and 2002-06.
Seven of the nine major rivers, the Berkeley, King George, Drysdale, Mitchell, Prince Regent, Sale and Red Cone Inlet will be mentioned, with advice and photos of river entrances, hazards, fishing and sightseeing options.
Dennis will also show slides of some short expeditions (the DC3 Wreck and Montgomery Reef) and special places to visit (such as aboriginal Art Sites and Langgi) when cruising the Kimberley.
The presentation will also include a warning about charted and uncharted reefs. These dangers will be illustrated by dramatic slides of a fishing boat and the Leeuwin II high and dry on reefs, and the saga of the grounding of the luxury charter vessel True North in Strong Tide Pass at 1:00 in the morning.
