Nasty East Aust coast weather - Ulladulla
Pampero again meets with (and photographs) stormy weather
I know that some of you haven't heard from us for a while. That's because I've been just plain slack (having fun in Hobart).
More pics of trip from Tas to here will follow soon, but in the meantime here is what's happenning right here and now in not so sunny Ulladula, about 100nm south of Sydney. After seeing out some seriously big winds in Tas before crossing back to Australia, we've arrived here to more of the same. Bugger! Although in the pics of the inside of the harbour area look quite benign, the winds gusts have been really strong and there is a big swell surge entering through the opening causing us (and all the other boats) to jag backwards and forwards really hard on our mooring lines, not to mention the wind blowing my hair off. That must be Bugger number 2!
Last evening we moved off the inside of the outer sea-wall to closer in here beside one of the trawlers, thanks to kind and accomodating fishermen. With the gradually incresing swell it was turning into bad
news out where we were. If you look closely (zoom) you'll see that many of the trawlers' long, large dia mooring lines have been made fast to the storm buoys out from the wharfs. This is to prevent the surge from
thumping them against the dock.
Here's hoping it doesn't get worse here like in Newcastle and surrounds.
All part of messing around in boats, eh?
Best regards,
Gus L.
