Anteater Blues - Coming Home
Robbie writes from Fort Lauderdale about Anteater Blues homeward voyage plans
Hi Peoples
We are currently in Fort Lauderdale. Back in Perth next Wednesday 25th. Things have to end unfortunately. Phil has penned
below and asked me to send it out, so am being a dutiful "secretary" while Phil does boatey stuff.
The boat goes on the ship tomorrow am. We drive her into the sunken ship, then they block her up & drain out the water, and off she comes across the pacific. Arrives Brisbane mid July, then we will sail her from Brisbane around the top to Perth. About 3,000 miles I think, so that is the next great adventure. Will be nice to see places in the NT we haven't visited in nearly 20 years.
Re reef incident below, it was absolutely frightening and life changing. No harm done and the boat is perfect. All the floor boards have been out and she has been minutely examined and passed muster with an A1 score. What a two years, we have sailed over 10,000 miles, seen places we would never have gone, had experiences we would never believe possible. In 2 to 3 years we will leave Perth and take off for two years, and come back across the Pacific when we can do it without having to commute back and forth to Australia.
Must say having heard a lot about the "Loop" on the inland waterways in USA & Canada, are becoming keen to do it. However can't in the Ant as she is way too deep keeled. Maybe a motor boat? Who knows what the future holds?
Will get this off, and hear/see you all in a couple of weeks.
