On the Q.V.(*) or Looking for Kudos

Shortly after being invited to accompany us in Pegasus II on the Quindalup Cruise, my Father penned the following poem in honour of this year's theme "Q". He read his poem as the Pegasus II contribution to the QCYC Regatta Day entertainment.

The letter Q, one might suppose, is hardly suitable for prose.
To be in keeping, this refrain, should rightly be as a quatrain.
How many words begin with Q, I have to tell you quite a few.
Quotient, quadrant and the rest, put the poet to the test.
Finding rhymes for qualm and Quandary (could one be farm, the other laundry?).
And you'd need much more than tonic, to find a match for quadraphonic.
Qadragesima and quack, quintet, quartet, quarterback,
quadruped and quantify, can all be said to qualify.
As words so queer as to defy the keenest rhymester, tho' he'll try.
But when you speak of Quindalup, I'm nearly ready to give up!
Queensland's Qantas, there's not question, nor ever even a suggestion
that quirky ads and bright red roos, don't keep Australia "in the news".
Quadruple bets make up quadrellas for those Australian gambling fellas.
Trying hard to make a quid, oft harder than the horses did.
But tell me, what could be more okker, than your local little Quokka.
Quoting words we find familiar, quay and quarter n' others sim'lar.
Like when we quest the foreign scene and have to queue for quarantine.
Quinquereme, that's pretty old, as is quarterdeck I'm told.
And when we fill a bit uneasy, one cannot help but think of queasy.
Then, of course, there is the quiz and that isn't all there is.
What of quaver, quagmire, quip and quibbling over ownership.
Quivering quagmires, quicksand too, can all be traps for me and you.
Querty keyboards, what a blast, Quondam format now is past.
Turning now to recent scene, there've been some comments like "obscene".
Performing queens, cavorting queerly have others watching say: "Well, really!".
But aside from this frivolity, we're really quintissential quality.
Quite a quota here of Q's, but now it's time to quaff some booze.
Quench your thirst, don't be a quitter, get stuck in to Aussie bitter.
And in conclusion, is it wrong, to end this verse with: "Cue for song"?
