Grand Final Weekend Cruise 2008 - Rottnest East to West

We kick off the 08/09 Cruising Season with this popular tour of Rottnest. Throw in a bit of gratuitous Whale Watching and the Grand Final on the Big Screen at the General's Bar. Where in the world would you rather be? We're especially keen to see some of our newcomers on this cruise, so if you've never done a cruise with us before, THIS IS THE ONE TO DO! Register online now!

What, no Mindarie?

Traditionally, the Grand Final Weekend starts with a trip North to Mindarie.  However, as we're particularly keen to attact newcomers, we felt that we'd keep the distances down and the navigation as simple as possible.  Also, the weather sometimes works against making it to Mindarie in time for the start of the AFL Grand Final.

The Programme

Friday 26 September

18:30:  Meet in the FSC Sailors Bar for the briefing.

On Completion: Twilight/Night sail to Rottnest Island, anchoring in Thomsons bay.  Monitor VHF 73 and 77

Saturday 27 September

Morning:  Latecomers or those uncomfortable with night sailing, morning sail FSC to Thomsons Bay.  Monitor VHF 73 and 77.

Afternoon:  Watch the AFL Grand Final on the big screen in the General's Bar sharing the fellowship of cruisers.  We will almost certainly not be monitoring VHF 73 or 77 or any other channels!

Evening:  At anchor in the East end of Thomsons Bay.  Monitor VHF 77 for any ad-hoc social activities.

Sunday 28 September

Morning:  Sail in company into Stark Bay.  Anchor in Stark Bay (or pick up a mooring if you have a permit to do so).  Monitor VHF 73 and 77.

Afternoon:  Kite Flying and fun in the bay.  Monitor VHF 77 for details.

Evening:  Sundowner on the beach starting at 17:00.  Monitor VHF 77 for details.

Monday 29 September

"Whale Watching" sail in company back to FSC via the West end of Rottnest Island.  Monitor VHF 73 and 77.
